Thanks Timothy! I am going to follow your advice and try one of these QWERTY
puzzlers for a few days before I take the plunge! Wish me luck :)

I hold the phone vertically with the screen facing my body, brace the back with
my fingers and just let my thumbs do all the work on
the keypad.
Wow! I wish I started to do that from the beginning, but I didn't. I know a lot
of people who type just like that. I don't even
touch type on the keyboard the normal way as well, but that's a bit off topic.
I should try to adapt to thumb-typing, as there must
be a good reason for it to be a common method of typing.

Do you have very slim fingers?
yeah, my fingers are pretty slim. A kid's finger's may be thinner, but probably
not by much.

I have held these QWERTY devices and have always felt intimadated by them. How
bigg is the E73 keyboard?
If you've ever seen the E63, E71, or E72, it's almost exactly the same size. To
be perfectly honest, I thought I'd never be able to
get used to such a small keyboard, but it grows on you. *grin.*

I felt the E9 and those keys seemed stuck to each other. No way my reasonably
stout fingers would tell them apart.
I've never seen an E9 before, so couldn't compare my phone with it
unfortunately. I think you could probably learn with some
practice. It takes a while to get used to, but it's manageable. It's too bad
you can't get one of those phones for a trial for a
couple of days to see if you can get used to it or not...

Well. . . . Between the touch screen devil and the deep sea of QWERTY i am
hopelessly lost :(
You could always go with a phone with a regular keypad. I don't know of any
good ones, as I never really had a phone that I needed
for texting and the like until I had my E73 Mode, but I'm sure a lot of people
on this invaluable list could help you with choosing
the right phone for you.
