As for me, I hold my E73 Mode with my left hand mainly, and type with my thumb on my left hand, and use multiple fingers to type with my right. Not sure where the habit developed, but hey. There you have it.
As for predictive text, I never had it on, figuring that it was pointless. I type reasonably fast on my phone, and as there aren't multiple letters or punctuation assigned to a single button, it would probably be more of a hindrance than a help.
