If you did a hard reset then you will not have Talks running so you will
have to start by putting in time and date. I can't do this myself but many
users on this list appear to be able to do so independently without sighted
help. Once you do that and you are at the home screen you need to go in to
applications and provided Talks is still there you can go to options and
arrow down to Enable Talks. However if Talks is not there you will have to
reinstall it again. Then the phone will be like it was when it came to you.

Ok! Now I got the process done.
Can anyone please walk me through what the e71 looks like after a hard
reset? IE what screens I'm expected to go through when the phone comes up.
So far i've been unable to get to the start screen.

You could also use the 3, * (star), and call buttons. That's the method I
used until I found out about the space, shift, and clear.
So. Make sure your phone is off, then hold down those three buttons, then
turn on your phone. Once your phone has vibrated to
indicate to you that it's on, release the power button and simply continue
to hold the three buttons until you hear the Nokia logo.

This is just a heads up to people! This means that we are going to have
issues for a while with JAWS and I can't speak about Window Eyes. This is
to
tell people that the Nokia Software updater latest version doesn't read
the
screen with JAWS 12.x if you update to the latest version. However you
aren't given a option to not update and still be able to update your
phone.
The Nokia Software updater is what is used to update the phone firmware
when
doing it by computer.
Maybe it can be fixed by SF in the upcoming JAWS version?
