I forgot to mention that the feature will allow you to interact with the recognized text. So say the Nokia Software Updater program has an image with the word next? Providing the OCR can recognize it you can click on the word next and it will move onto the next screen. So it doesn't just recognize the text; it also allows you to interact with it.

JAWS 13 is going to have an OCR feature, meaning you can recognize any
images on-screen so that programs, documents, etc, are once again
accessible. OCR works by identifying the shapes in the image and
converting them shapes to readable characters. This is a breakthrough in
screen reading and I think a lot of you will like it. For those like me
who are brave enough there is a public beta available right now which
you can find out more about on the home page of the Freedom Scientific
website. www.freedomscientific.com.

This is just a heads up to people! This means that we are going to have
issues for a while with JAWS and I can't speak about Window Eyes. This
is to tell people that the Nokia Software updater latest version doesn't
read the screen with JAWS 12.x if you update to the latest version.
However you aren't given a option to not update and still be able to
update your phone. The Nokia Software updater is what is used to update
the phone firmware when doing it by computer.

Maybe it can be fixed by SF in the upcoming JAWS version?

Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works.
No amount of bandwidth can fix poor design.
