No updating your phones firmware will not hurt you trial code. However in saying that, i would still go into the Talks settings, options, register, then manual registration and then arrow to the serial number at the bottom of the list and write it down. You may need to turn off t9 so you can arrow throu the 16 character code one character at a time to write it down.
