if you mean that route calculation is slower than Access, this is a natural thing, as Access used an online cloud based server approach to speed and streamline the routing instructions, specifically as it helped with regards to this issue.
I've personally not found OVI Maps that lagging, sure if you calculate a route over a rather large distance with many hundreds of routing options then it is going to be rather processor intensive on your poor old phone, but that is to be expected.
