I know we've been kindly asked to cease and desist on this one, but I just wanted to drop a quick note to all to whom this applies. I didn't realise the response my comment made this morning in a bid to be helpful would garner. It's rather more than I expected and as of now I've received 17 individual requests for help. I'm sure some that have mailed aren't even on this list. I have no objection to helping people, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to pass on knowledge, but I do think people should bear a few things in mind. As I said before, it took me 6 minutes of searching on Bing to find proof that Ovi Maps could be run on non-strictly compatible devices, and to verify that this wasn't just one person being fanciful and making a stir about nothing. I've not accessed anything that can't be accessed by anyone else, no inside knowledge or restricted downloads. Second, I don't have an N82, E51 or any other such device that I can test this on after I sold my N95 8GB over the weekend. So no, I can't vouch for the accuracy or success of this. There are several factors that influence the process that I cannot test as I don't have the kit for it. What I'm saying is that I won't accept being flayed alive if this doesn't work. I'd have no problem with it if it's something I'd tried and didn't work, but as that's not the case it's something you should keep in mind. Finally, and most importantly, don't expect me to reply to everyone individually right away. This evening is a case in point - I've just spent the best part of 5 hours helping a close friend fix a computer problem over the phone. I don't spend all day browsing these lists, and just give time where I can when I'm free and don't have any other commitments on my time. So please don't take offence or Umbridge if I'm less than prompt in replying, or seem to be giving help to other people in preference to you. I might do a blog post on this so that everyone can read it in their own time to save me mailing lots of people and so that others can pass this on to those who may need it in the future. OK, I just wanted to explain these things as I felt they needed to be said and for people to understand. Please don't reply to this as it'll only start up a discussion again which we were asked to stop.
