Do the following.
1. please dial some numbers on your phone and to not press the dial key.
2. This will insure that you are in the telephone program.
3. Now press the Talks key and release it, then press and hold the center
of the arrow pad for about 1 second.
4. This will take you in the Talks object viewer.
5. You will be on the first line of the screen which has the screen and
some number after it.
6. Now press Select the center of the arrow pad.
7. This will bring up a list of two things. The first one being App.
Specific settings and the next one to reset roles on screen.
8. Please arrow down to the 2nd option and press select.
9. Answer YES to reset roles on screen.
10. You will be returned back to the object view screen row.
11. Press select again.
12. Now press select on App. Specific settings.
13. This will take you into the Talks settings for the App. Specific
settings for the Telephone program.
14. Please remove any settings hear if there are any. You do this by
pressing Options and arrow to reset value to standard. Answer YES if asked
to reset value. Do this for each setting that you have set.
15. When done resetting these settings, press SoftKey2 to exit.
16. Now you will be back at the telephone program.
17. Press the End call button to clear the screen.
18. Now try calling your bank and see if it works any differently.

Did you by chance change something in the object viewer for the role
that has the name/number of the person on it? Did you set up a
Application specific setting for the telephone program to unmute during
a call. This over rides any settings made in the Advanced tab of Talks.
Myself, I like to hear the name of the number/person that I'm calling.
But this always stops if it is still speeking when the phone is
answered. But 99% of the time, the name is done said long before the
phone is answered. This is even true when I call a bank system. But even
then, I do not need to hear the prompts each and every time to know what
I initially need to do.

Hi Stephen,
I set my Talks to always mute during a call, but when I dial to call,
Talks announces the number or the name I am calling if that name is in
my contacts.
What is annoying is Talks starts talking while the other end is
talking as well.
For example, I am checking my balance, I cannot hear the amount it's
saying because Talks interrupts that I often redial and listen closely.
I tried to mute the Talks before pressing the dial key, yet it didn't
helps.

Estelita
Please expand on how it is causing issue if you have it muted. What is
it doing? or not doing?

Hi guys,
I set my Talks to always mute during a call, yet it is still
interfereing, which is inconvenient especially when I am checking out
my remaining balance.
Is there something else to set to fix this behavior?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Estelita
