Brian:

My friend uses a hearing aid when she is in public places. However, she seldom uses it when she is in her home, except when listening to TV, radio, etc., or when she has company.

When I was talking about the frequency responses between the speakers in the N91 and the N86, I was referring to the external speakers through which you listen to Talks and music.

Dave Durber

Thanks David. When you refer to th speakers below, are you referring to the external speakers that TALKs/KNFB and speakerphone is listened to, or the internal speaker listening to the earpiece of the phone's headset, or both? This is very helpful. As an aside, by chance, does your friend use hearing aids or have a cochlear implant to help with her hearing loss? Because if so, either headphones or a 'neck loop' jacked into headphone jacke may help with background noise. Glad to see someone who understands the universalnightmare of background noise with hearing challenged folks.

Thanks again.
Brian

Brian:

I have a friend who has severe hearing loss in one ear and has some hearing
loss in the other ear.

Until recently, we both had Nokia N91 phones. She was able to hear that
phone, even with the volume at a fairly low level.

We purchased two N86 phones about a month ago. We both love the phone and my friend says that she has no problems hearing Talks, even at a low volume.

Her only complaint about the sound from the speakers, is that they do not
have as much frequency range as the N91. This is probably due to the
smaller size of the speakers in the N86.

In general, My friend appears to have little, or no difficulty hearing
people, when she is on the phone, except of course, when there is a lot of
background noise. And of course, Background noise, affects us all, to a
greater or lesser degree, depending upon the type of background noise.

HTH

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Thanks Alex.
How is the volume and sound quality of the phone, is it better than the N
82? Would appreciate anyone on this list replying to this, especially
anone
with hearing impairment/issues.
