Stephen,
As you may know, I am a TALKs, KNFB user on the N-82 phone. Per your reply yesterday, you may recall that I have posted about major issue that developed with my N-82.

I am hearing as well as visually challenged and a practicing psychotherapist. Thus, the cell phone is crucial to my safety as well as lliability issues. I have been monitoring this list for nearly two years now, and have read, to max extent possible, with interest many of the messages in an, often desperate, attempt to stay abreast of technology. I vaguely remembered some discussion about the best quality cell phone compatible to TALKs/KNFB, volume and sound quality wise, and researched the old list to see if I could find it. I was very pleased and surprised to find this old message from you. I am writing, and copying my support resources, to see if there is anything upgraded since April, 2010, when this message was written, that may provide some information to the best quality phone for someone with hearing issues. I would also like the person whom you directed, and any other hearing challenged folks, to reply to this message. Stephen, in advance, I thank you.
Best,

If you like the N73! Then you will like the N95 8GB. The speaker quality is about the same. The N86 is about 2 steps below the N95 8GB at the highest setting. So if you have any hearing loss the N95 8GB will be better for you.

Yes the N95 8GB is a little older phone but the battery life as far as Talks time is about the same. Also keep in mind! You can get a 2200 MAH battery for the N95 8GB to greatly increase the battery life as well. At that point, the N86 doesn't even come close. <smile> I've had more trouble with my N86 then I've had with any of my N95* models of phones.

The headset jack on both N86 and N95* models is the same.

Another thing to think about is the N95* models still has a EDIT key so you do not have to a just to what the Pound and Star keys do.

So depending on where you live! See what is available and if you can go and check both phones out to see what one you like the feel of best. Also see if you can get the place to let you put a copy of Talks on the phone so that you can then see how the external speakers sound to you on the model of phone that you are playing with.

Asking a list like this! You will get a lot of different thoughts and how things work for different people and some of that information will contirdict one another. So in the end! It will come down to you.

Chris, it was a great phone three or four years ago, but I wouldn't bother
with it now.
Cheers
Alex

Thought that wasn't a good phone? Have they improved it now then?

In my case as I live in the UK it is probably the N95-8GB. Thanks.

Hello all,
I graduate from university this coming May. I would like to treat
myself to a new phone as a graduation present. Does anyone recommend
either an N95 or an N86?
I will still keep my good old N73 as a backup.
Thanks for any recommendations. Any other phone recommendations that
are good would also be greatly appreciated.
From Chris.
