I think this one is more like a collection of separate walks under
one name, marketed as one trail with one paper guide.
In the case of "my" bicycle tor example, the on-water parts are
integral part of the tour, they appear on the maps and they are
described in the guide. The tour is a week-long ring. It is not a
collection of separate tours.
While the ferry may not be 'way marked' the route to that point is?
At least that is the case for a route local to me. And in that relation
the ferry is included in the relation.
For the 'Overland Track' I would have the ferry as an alternative, the
real route is beside the lake... at least that is an interpretation
placed on it by some, including me.
