I'd love routing people to speak up - I'd prefer to not name them and 
tag them according to be a crossing link.

Everything else sounds like an implicit knowledge like we had in the
very beginning with multipolygons where the directions of the inners
would need to be counter clock wise etc ...


Same with *_link highways. I'd rather remove those highway types and
tag them like "ramp=on/off" "slipway=yes" or something.

I do have slipways which are "unclassified" or "residential" but i dont
think residential_link or unclassified_link do exist.

motorway_link is not a different highway type - Its some attribute which
slipped into the highway type.
