Sounds like we need a rendering image that combines a round and an oval ball 
in some way and use this for any grounds that are tagged with the ambiguous 
word 'football'; allow 'soccer' and 'association_football' as synonyms to be 
rendered with the image of a round football; and encourage 
'american_football' to be substituted for 'football' and rendered using an 
oval ball in those cases where it is the American game that is played.
