Well without rendering there is no map, just a database. If you are making an aviation specific map you may want to render airports on a 1:1 basis to show their worldwide significance. If you are making a general purpose map you may want to show some but not all airports based on relative importance. OSM data should allow for both possible renderings. There's too much data in the OSM database for general purpose maps to show all of a given feature at low zoom levels, but showing the most import is desirable. What's most important in one area may be very different from what's important in another area. That's all I'm saying. Zeke
