[OT] As there has been some discussion of SoX as a command line file (channel) splitter, I thought I'd also note:
You can (as with many audio tools) create slow (e.g. 0.01 Hz) sine and cosine waves as 'audio' files. What is rarer, is that you can multiply two 'audio' files, so you can produce rotations on the command line ...
