Okay, so about the exciting news...

As most of you know by now, I've been working on this plugin for a while - with a lot of help from Natasha Barrett, NOTAM and the beta testers, a big thanks to them and to Andrew who's taken on the job of an evangelist!

Today, the plugin is finally released!

For those who don't know what the plugin (known as Harpex-B) does, in one sentence it is a parametric B-format decoder / processor - meaning that it has a much higher spatial resolution than what you're used to for 1st order processing. For more information, there is much more to be found on the website, harpex.net, including a 5-minute demo video.

It has been difficult to select a licensing model and price because there are so many very different groups of people with interest in ambisonics and related technologies. In an attempt to make everyone at least a little bit happy, there are two versions available: A plugin, intended for commercial use, is offered under commercial terms: GBP 498 with a 30-day free trial period. The plugin is available for windows and osx and supports vst, audio unit and rtas.

In addition, there is a free B-format player application, which is intended for playing back b-format material. Hopefully, this can make some modest contribution on the popularity of b-format as a surround sound format. The player is available for windows, osx and linux.

So, if this tickles your curiosity then head on over to the website:

Svein
