View->Message Nody As *is* a global option. It is applied to every mail
or posting for displaying the content in the message pane.

If that is not true for you, you should check in a fresh profile.

OK, I played around with this a bit and figured it out.

If I make the selection for an individual message, it applies only to
that message.

If I select the account name and make the selection, it applies to all
messages in that account.

I can select a hundred individual messages and set them all to "plain
text," and SM doesn't take the hint -- the rest of the messages are
unaffected. Only if I make the selection for the account name does that
become the default for the account.

I believe you that you have seen this. It is a very strange behavior. It
shouldn't matter under which circumstances the choice for View->View
Body As was taken, the effect should take effect immediately for all
accounts, all messages.

I'm curious and it would be nice to be able to play with your SM. :)

I think my experience is better than yours. I can set a default and also set a different pref for individual messages.

There are the possibilities I can think of:

1) The effect is due to one or more add-ons
2) Your Profile is corrupt
3) Your SM is damaged

1) and 2) cannot be the cause, if you have tested in a fresh profile.

It would be inconvenient to test in a fresh profile because then I'd have to set up an account and receive messages there and later transfer them back to my main profile.

Plugins? They would be available in every profile. Hm. Your OS? I see
you are using Win. That one is too complicated for me. :-D

I could test in Safe Mode to rule out plug-ins and add-ons.
