It is important not to just throw around the word "attic". An attic is a combustible concealed space, members less than 3 on center, with a pitch of 4/12 or greater.
There is no distinction on occupancy above for interstitial. A combustible concealed space, less than 2/12, and less than 36" deep. R/ Matt Matthew J. Willis, CWBSP, C.E.T. First thought was interstitial heads under it but then got to thinking, since there's not another floor above wouldn't attic or upright heads be acceptable instead. I guess I'm wondering if having a floor above is what drives interstitial heads?
