I don't know what testing results would indicate, I don't know what NFPA's
position would be, but . . .

Generally speaking, any product that is cartoned is less of a hazard than the
same product exposed. Activated sprinklers prewet the cardboard around the
perimeter of the fire and slow the fire growth.

That and about $6.50 will get you a decent cup of coffee.

Any thoughts on this?

Subject: Protection of Expanded Group A Plastics

If a system is designed to protect EXPOSED Expanded Group A Plastics, then is
it automatically sufficient for protection of CARTONED Expanded Group a
Plastics?

In the NFPA 13 table, there is no option listed for protecting Cartoned
Expanded Group A Plastics with K22 or K25 ESFR sprinklers. Why is that? There
are options for K14 and K17 sprinklers.

There is an option to use K25 ESFR sprinklers to protect Exposed Expanded Group
A Plastics. If a system is designed to that criteria, does that system also
provide adequate protection for Cartoned Expanded Group A Plastics?

[Note: I do know that there are more protection options using FM datasheets,
but I'm curious specifically about NFPA requirements.]

Thanks.
