Greetings fellow spam assassins! I'd like to take a moment of your time and gripe about a certain rule that seems to be causing some grief to the users at the Ocean State FreeNet (osfn.org) -- FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS.
Our system runs on a package known as FreePort, and that package dictates how we lay out our usernames. We don't get a choice in the matter. That layout is two alpha-characters followed by three digits, and runs afoul of FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS. To keep things sane at our end, knowing that we're not alone in using FreePort, we coded a local rule that groks the /[ <][a-z][a-z]\d\d\d\@/ scheme and nulls out the almost one full point score -- but (and that's a big but) we cannot do that at other sites, and we're seeing legitimate mail from our users winding up in other people's spam-buckets -- sometimes without their knowledge. May I make an appeal, on behalf of everyone using FreePort, to re- think the wisdom of the /\d\d\@/ rule? Thanks for putting up with the foregoing rant and your patience. +------------------------------------------------+---------------------+ | Carl Richard Friend (UNIX Sysadmin) | West Boylston | | Minicomputer Collector / Enthusiast | Massachusetts, USA | | mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] +---------------------+ | http://users.rcn.com/crfriend/museum | ICBM: 42:22N 71:47W | +------------------------------------------------+---------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials.
