Since you're using bayes do you get the same errors when you try to use sa-learn?
I have a nightly cron job that runs on most accounts that runs sa-learn over the contents of $HOME/Mail/sa-learn-spam, but I've not noticed the files getting changed at the time that cron job runs, and they can get changed multiple times in one day, which would indicate the daily cron is not involved.
I changed the path of bayes and then changed it back (after removing the bayes_journal files). The new journal files where created with -rw-rw---- perms. Hrm...
44 -rw-rw---- 1 kremels staff 44086 Dec 24 06:29 bayes_journal
So far (a few hours) the perms have not been changed (knock on wood)
