128MB of RAM with a 238MB swap partition. It was the defaults from the FreeBSD install. I never thought it would use it all up. All it does is handle email.

I usually put my swap space at 2X my memory, but lately I don't configure may servers with less than 512MB any more. If I were in your shoes, I would consider investing in some more memory (it is much easier than modifying your swap space, and the machine runs much faster). You can safely take it to 512M (even 1gb if your machine can handle it) and probably notice a significant performance boost. This morning the box decided to run out of swap space and it kept killing the perl process. Anyone seen this before? How much swap space should I dedicate to the box? I process about 2000 to 3000 messages a day on a PII 400. I never thought it would run out of swap space. --Mike ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
