do you recommend a virus scanner for linux
On the free-software side, look into clamAV.
F-prot makes a very decent linux scanner on the commercial side and their small-business version covers most mailsever type usage at a reasonable price last time I checked. I heard some rumbling on the MailScanner list at one point about license changes, but I'm not sure if that ever really happened or not.
Sophos's scanner is quite powerful and their updates are top-notch in terms of how fast they are released, but their price is also quite high.
Several other companies make linux scanners that I've never played with, but many people use them and are happy with them. Those are just the 3 I've been exposed to and my impressions of them.
