Looks like it was a two fold problem, I still had a 'defang_mime 0' entry in
my sa-mimedefang.cf file, and I also setup a working dir for the bayes db's
with
permissions and set the location in the cf file, now my box is ideling away.

Make sure you've got DB_File installed (via CPAN) as any of the other types
of database that SA will drop back to using, such as GDBM etc do not scale
up and are grossly inefficient, with very high resource use.
If you do install DB_File you'll find you have to delete your bayes
database and let it start again.
