Thanks Abigail. I am working with procmail. I am new to procmail though. I found that when I try to set my re-directed spam to a file folder in /var/mail instead of my home directory, it doesn't work. What I wanted to do was write it to a file called spam that could be read with another id later, but I can't seem to get that working unless I leave it in my home directory. Probably jut a file permissions thing.

One other note, I am having problems configuring for virtual mail users. I only have about 6 accounts, but is the only way to work with these spamd? Seems like without a user home directory and procmail, it doesn't want to work. What I tried was to set all non-login users' home directory to /home/mailuser. Then, I hoped that they would share a procmailcf file. But apparently, this won't work because the email system doesn't use passwd to determine user' home directories. I can always re-create the users' home directories since I have so few, but i was hoping to avoid it.

You'll find a lot of info about settings & configuration in
the Mail_SpamAssassin_Conf.html file under Documentation at
the spamassassin.org site. I don't think that you can set
it to rewrite all subjects, but I'm really not sure of this.

If you are using procmail for filtering, you can use post-SA
recipes to sort out email and work safely with a very low
number of Required Hits. This is what I do on my system,
mail with a score of 10 or above is sent to a "spamdeath"
file where it won't ordinarily be retrieved, whereas email
with a score of 4 or above is tagged as possible spam, and
goes to a "spam" POP box where I can review it and rescue
any false positives. So one option is to simply set the
required hits threshhold to 0, and then use something like:
subject_tag [Spamassassin Report: _HITS_]

I preview all my email in Mailwasher, which uses a
spreadsheet-like format to see all email on the server. By
clicking on the title bar to the "Subject" column, the mail
is automatically reordered in appropriate alphanumeric
order, so even without filtering out the high end hits, it
is easy to preview the email in the order from
lowest-to-highest scores.
