If i'm not mistaken, Dirk Muller on the MIMEDefang list posted a patch to
support calls to spamd directly from the mimedefang-filter. It's a recent
thread so you might want to search that list for an answer.
there's been some debate as to whether or not there's an actual advantage to
doing so.
