just wondering if anyone has seen this occurring much?? the spamd child
process here is running for 6 minutes and 50 seconds. i had 3 processes
this morning that were running for 14 minutes or more as well. it has
nothing to do with expiry since i set expiry count to 200k and run my
expiries at night. i have to end up killing the pid or the load starts
to crawl up. this morning my load was 20, and after i killed that pid
it dropped to .8. it's like spamd is looping. maybe this applies to
boog #1927 http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1927 i was
not able to [k|s|p]trace any of the processes.

i was able to capture this message in the working directory today.

here is a copy of it.

if i take this message and pipe it through spamc again, it processes
fine. if i look in /var/log/maillog, it never shows spamd returning a
score..

Jul 1 08:48:27 mail2 spamd[9936]: Still running as root: user not
specified with -u, not found, or set to root. Fall back to nobody.
Jul 1 08:48:27 mail2 spamd[9936]: processing message (unknown) for
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:99.

here is a normal entry..

Jul 1 09:57:03 mail2 spamd[31115]: Still running as root: user not
specified with -u, not found, or set to root. Fall back to nobody.
Jul 1 09:57:03 mail2 spamd[31115]: processing message

Jul 1 09:57:06 mail2 spamd[31115]: clean message (2.1/5.0) for
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:99 in 2.8 seconds, 2243 bytes.

so the question is, why does spamd never complete? it's very very
random, and i may get a half dozen a day out of about 200k messages
among 3 MTA's. i have copies of 3 emails that hung spamd this morning,
but i cannot replicate it.
