How can I use the "required hits" option? I don't know, how to use it. Can you give me and PRACTICAL example, what it is for?
required_hits n.nn (default: 5) Set the number of hits required before a mail is considered spam. "n.nn" can be an integer or a real number. 5.0 is the default setting, and is quite aggressive; it would be suitable for a single-user setup, but if you're an ISP installing SpamAssassin, you should probably set the default to be more conservative, like 8.0 or 10.0.
That's from the manpage.
5 seems ok. Having something like 7 the first few weeks or permanently may be reasonable to see how things go if you have lots of users.
If required_hits is set to 5 and mail gets 4.9, it's not spam. If it gets 5, 5.1 or more, it's spam.
