The method I use is to export my need-to-learn emails as a Unix mailbox
file to disk (one of the options available in my POP3 mail client,
perfect for this use since it preserves all headers exactly as they
reached my POP3 inbox, and preserves the separators between messages),
and then I FTP those files (one for spam, one for ham) back to the mail
server machine. A cron job checks for those files, and if they exist it
runs sa-learn against the files, and then deletes the files when done.

This isn't a method that would work for everyone, probably not a
majority, but is available for those with the technical background to
make it work.
