I have recently installed version 2.43 SA using spamd and have a couple of
questions. I tried to search the archives, but they went down just as I was
starting...

My local.cf settings are:

  required_hits         5
  version_tag mtvrules1 # append my info to the version
  rewrite_subject 1  # 1 = Put Spam in the subject
  fold_headers 1     # 1 = Break headers into multiple lines
  spam_level_stars 1 # 1 = Use stars to indicate the level
  defang_mime 0      # 0 = Leave the Content-type header alone
  dns_available test: NS1.LINUXWEBNET.COM NS2.LINUXWEBNET.COM
NS3.LINUXWEBNET.COM
  report_header 1    # 1 = Put rpt in header; use with terse
  use_terse_report 1 # 1 = Terse Report
  ok_languages en # Languages other than English considered spam
  ok_locales en # Locations - not sure about this one

# Terse report template.
  clear-terse-report-template
  terse-report ---- Start SpamAssassin results
  terse-report _HITS_ hits, _REQD_ required;
  terse-report _SUMMARY_
  terse-report ---- End of SpamAssassin results
#
    score RCVD_IN_BL_SPAMCOP_NET      4
    score RCVD_IN_DUL                 1
    score RCVD_IN_DUL_FH              1
    score RCVD_IN_RBL                 10
    score RCVD_IN_RSS                  1

(1) I tried using the --debug option thinking it would generate a lot of info
in the log (sending it to local4 with -s local4), but nothing happens. Turn
off --debug and get output in the log. Is this a bug?

(2) I turned on the rbl checks to see what would happen (I do not subscribe
to any of them, individual user). How can I tell if spamd is actually
checking the lists?

(3) I have an account at Fastmail. They generate headings that look like:

X-Spam-score: 3.7
X-Spam: spam
X-Spam-hits: CARRIAGE_RETURNS, FORGED_RCVD_TRAIL, FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS,
SPAM_PHRASE_01_02

This output is really useful, especially the X-Spam-score: information (they
also fix it so that negative numbers are set to zero).

My headers (with hits set to zero so that everything not negative is spam)
looks like:

X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=0.1 required=0.0
    tests=EXCHANGE_SERVER,KNOWN_MAILING_LIST,SIGNATURE_LONG_SPARSE,
          SPAM_PHRASE_02_03,X_LOOP
    version=2.43-mtvrules1
X-Spam-Flag: YES
X-Spam-Level:
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.43-mtvrules1 (1.115.2.20-2002-10-15-
exp)
X-Spam-Report:   0.10 hits, 0 required;
 * -0.2 -- Found a X-Loop header
 * -0.1 -- Came via Internet Mail Service plugin
 *  0.8 -- BODY: Spam phrases score is 02 to 03 (medium)
           [score: 2]
 * -0.3 -- Long signature present (empty lines)
 * -0.1 -- Email came from some known mailing list software

What do I have to modify to get my headers to look like those of Fastmail?

(4) The doco on ok_locales en is very confusing. What are the correct
settings, how does it differ from ok_languages, and what exactly does it
accomplish?

  Thanks, Mike.
