Running fewer than 90 procmail processes at a time is probably a good place to start. If you're also running a large number of SpamAssassin processes at the same time, it will kill your performance. Perhaps a sendmail user can help you out with that one. When downloading a lot of mail at once, it might make sense to use a local instance of spamd/spamc instead of the spamassassin script. That will probably get you a nice speed-up, even with the procmail problem.
