I am running Spamassassin 2.43 from Procmail on my laptop. SA is
installed in the default directories of ~/sausr and ~/saetc.

I use fetchmail to retrieve mail from my POP3 accounts both at home
and at work. When I initially start up my laptop at home, there may
be 100 messages waiting for me that fetchmail retrieves. Fetchmail
downloads them all and it takes a very long time for them to be
filtered with Procmail when Spamassassin is used.

I initially used the Procmail recipe from the installation
guide but have since added a lockfile to see if that makes a
difference. It hasn't.

While I was downloading mail tonight, ps -ef|grep procmail returned 90
procmail -f processes running. It took about 20 minutes to process
all of those messages.

I would appreciate any ideas or direction for improving the
performance of Spamassassin.

Thanks.
