Ok, so I got to thinking this morning and the one file size difference that i did not check was the spamd file itself. I apologize for this. THe file size of spamd was different on the 2 boxes that I am running here. So I copied the spamd file from the working computer to the not working perfectly computer and now spamassassin is running fine through /etc/init.d
