Why is all advertising automatically illegitimate? But read on ...

That is in fact what MSDN Flash does. Did you look at the rules that are
firing?

SUBJECT_MONTH
FROM_NEWS_LIST
Those two are negative and are the only reason this doesn't
        score almost 18.

FROM_HAS_MIXED_NUMS
Big positive, because MSDN is using VERPs in the From: field.

TO_BE_REMOVED_REPLY
UNSUB_PAGE
MAILTO_WITH_SUBJ
These are the other big positives, all hitting on legitimate
opt-out mechanisms. Why is it a bad thing to provide several
        different ways to opt out?

OFFER
SAVE_BUCKS
SAVE_MONEY
CALL_FREE
These were all hit in one- or two-line summaries above hyperlinks
to the MSDN site. But taken together they don't add up to 5, so
        the advertising isn't the problem.

LINES_OF_YELLING
LINES_OF_YELLING_2
LINES_OF_YELLING_3
DOUBLE_CAPSWORD
These are the headlines above each one-line summary, but add up to
        barely 2.

SUPERLONG_LINE
OK, what do you expect, it's Microsoft.

MISSING_OUTLOOK_NAME
I don't even know what that is, it's new.
