Are those MIME messages? That's because HTML renderers ignore the newline characters in the report. Both of these issues have the same cause. SA simply prepends the text to the beginning of the message body, but doesn't do any special formatting such as creating a new MIME section or converting it to HTML. As a result the text can be added to the message in an "incorrect" way. I've been using the report_headers option for a while now, and I think that produces better results. I haven't checked this at all. How incorrect are the scores you are checking? If they're off by just a little bit then it is probably insignificant (fp approximation, display truncation/rounding, etc).
