I don't need or want your pity, or your snarky 'tude, either, especially seeing as how you seem perfectly willing to admit you don't know anything about RPMs yet you claim Debian's installation process is superior without offering so much as a whit of evidence in support.
But this is not germane to our discussion. What I *do* want is a mechanism to build RPMs as a non-root user. This spamassassin doesn't currently offer. The proffered patches will fix this problem nicely.
