Er, right; either way, the proposed patch fixes it -- or at least makes it
possible to fix it -- by prepending $(PREFIX) when the person running the 
build is unable to write to "/".

The .spec file would still need to invoke "make PREFIX=${buildroot}" (if I
remember .spec syntax correctly, which I may not).
