Don't really know that the cause could be. I have not tested SJ with Java 1.5, 
yet, so it's
possible that there's an issue there, but that does not seem likely. 

One thing you could do is check your appstats page: http://[sj host
url:port]/sourcejammer/AppStats

This will show the amount of memory available to SJ's JVM, among other things. 
Might be of
interest.

Another possible question is, how much stuff is in your SJ archives? How many 
files, all together.
If you have a lot of files (more than 1000) that you look at on a regular 
basis, SJ might need to
read the meta data from disk more often than is optimal (as opposed to reading 
in from the
in-memory cache). Keep in mind, also, that when you re-start your server, it 
will have to re-build
the cache. This could mean that the first time you view the contents of a given 
folder, that the
contents will seem to load slowly. The next time you view that folder, though, 
it should load much
more quickly.

And in case you're wondering, it is possible to increas the cache size. Check 
the docs section of
the sourcejammer.org site.
