Hi Mike, Someone on the list recommended Walgreen's Personal Ultrasonic Humidifier--about $20. I got one for my son-in-law who had a B_A_A_A_D cough along with his several other problems. I gave him a mixture (some-0ne else's formula) consisitng of CS 20 ppm w/ Sat. Sol. MSM; pouring off the clear solution + 20% DMSO 99/9%. This solution proved very efective. The unit is about the size of a pint jar, begins operating immediately upon plugging in; (Up to 4 hours continuous operation on one filling--I believe you'll only want to use it for 5 minutes or several deep breaths at one time) so is easily portable. Despite the DMSO to which some object to the odor, it's not obtrusive. Someone else also recommended adding a short plastic hose and breathing short breaths through the mouth to insure most of the treatment goes directly into the lungs--I feel this to be an excellent idea.
At any higher price, I don't feel you'll get anything to be more effective. Please let us know what you decide on and the effectiveness. It seems the equivalent OMRON ultrasonics are a minimum of twice the price. The ultrasonic seems to make the most sense, in terms of noise, for sure, besides the claimed superiority in droplet size and delivery rate. Small, portable, AC, battery and DC inputs would all be good features. If anybody has any comments one way or the other I'd like to hear them.
