I can speak from experience... stay away from guaifenesin. I took it until I started to have problems and I have known other FMS people who have also had problems with it. Basically at the levels needed for FMS it dries out the body and sets people up for other issues later on in life. My personal experience and 2 cents! :-) PT

There is supposedly a treatment 'out there' for fibromyalgia - guaifenesin. I can't speak from any first hand knowledge of guaifenesin/fibro but I have taken guaifenesin for years for chronic drainage and kept running across this therapy for fibro when I was trying to find inexpensive guaifenesin over-the-counter. I was heartbroken when they made it otc because my ins co was covering most of the cost of the rx. I am allergic to the blue coloring in musinex (the otc guaifenesin) so I still get my guaifenesin with an rx thru a compounding pharmacy in Nebraska for a much better price than musinex and it has no fillers, lactose or color etc. Here is a link.. you can do your own research, ok? There is a lot of info on the web if you google guaifenesin fibromyalgia. Some sufferers have had good results with the protocol and guaifenesin won't hurt ya... I have been taking it for over 15 yrs now with no side effects. http://chronicfatigue.about.com/od/treatmentprotocols/a/guaifenesin.htm Lola H.
