In Chinese medicine, when someone suffers a stroke, someone pierces the ten
fingers with pins and the ear lobes (the part where  you hang earrings) and the
patient will come around.

A victim of multiple strokes here has gained back much feeling [many years
after the strokes] by applying a [pieso] barbecue igniter [aka electric 'stick
pins in the skin' treatment?..uh..oh yea, Acupuncture ] to the numb parts.
The very brief high voltage  electrical shocks seemed to be playing a game of
"Marco Polo" with the brain to find or form another routing pattern.
..like sending up a flare to attract contact after the phones go out.

It seemed to also work on an old guy in Chapel Hill who had stroke that
paralyzed his right arm.
He was back to playing his weird Turkish stringed instrument thingie  in a
couple of weeks.
