This is not from personal experience, but I recall that one use of a
gadget I bought is for people who have had a stroke.
This is the Enar device.
This is where I bought it. http://www.enlightenedtherapies.com/

Probably a professional with the Scenar would be a good option to start
with. I would imagine they would be willing to make a "house" call?
There is a link to therapists on the site somewhere, too.
One thing that is also possible is to rent a unit.
http://www.enar.com.au/rentbuy.html Of course, they hope you will buy
one once you have tried it - but at least you CAN try it.
Before buying an ENAR outright for themselves some people like to try
out a device for a time. You may rent a brand new device for one month.
Should you wish to then buy it, your first month’s rental can become a
deposit against the purchase price.

I went to a workshop once in Fremantle after I had bought it. There was
one bloke there who used to be a patient and was now a therapist. He'd
had a motor bike accident and was a mess, and was having pain relief
treatment from a Fremantle therapist. This therapist had been to a
workshop in Sydney, and had come home with an Enar. From the airport, he
rang the patient, who came around straight away, and from then on made
fantastic progress.
All the best to your friend.
