I don't quite understand your concern over hard water. Where I live
the water is extremely hard, and it just means I clean the still
oftener than might be needed elsewhere. The minerals that are left
behind in the boiling chamber are easily cleaned out of my
distiller, which is the same one Garnet posted a link to. I do know
there are some distillers out there which cannot be thoroughly or
easily cleaned though. Just don't get one of those, lol.
