Hi Annie,

Good information on herbs!

I once was given tetracycline for strep and not warned to stay out of the
sun. My work was a farmer/rancher. I could have used sun screen if I'd
only been warned how bad it could get. I threw back cotton in a trailer,
drove a tractor without any cab or shade and was always rigging plows in the
sun. One day, about 4 to 6 months later, I looked in the mirror and was
horrified to see my face looked like I had leprosy.

I found out that tetracycline can cause this photosensitivity and wore
sunscreen after this. It probably took a year to get back to normal.

So, if any herb can be as bad as the prescription drug tetracycline they
gave me, I would wear sunscreen to solve the problem.

BTW, I take St. John's Wort fairly often and like how it soothes me. I
don't wear sunscreen now but am not out in the sun from sun up to sun down,
but enough to test this reputed photosensitivity. No problems to date to me
from photosensitivity with the St. John's Wort.

Jean
