I have found the oldest tech solution to this problem: the humble pen, the physical book, and lots of shelf space. 1. Pen: I mark down my books and write an index of marked pages at the end of the book for easy reference. 2. Books: I prefer buying books to the Kindle (having tried e-books for several years) 3. Library: Some years ago, I realized that the concept of a library is both for books you have read and want to read. So I keep buying books and adding them to my library without worrying too much about reading them. I store these books theme-wise. This is a great help for me, because it becomes a visual aid to remember what's been written about by whom about what. 4. For long-form articles, I just use bookmarks on my web browser. I try not to read on my mobile phone at all so I don't even need to sync my browsers.
