The Kindle will first need to be switched on in the continental United
States after which it syncs with your Amazon account. You will then need
to use a US bank issued credit card in order to download subscriptions
onto the Kindle via USB. I have found that the Kindle is the cheapest
way to subscribe to US or UK magazines without a minimum contract
period- at less than 1/3 the price of the print editions.

Cheers!
