Yes, what others said, the kindle is a bad idea, even if you live in the US.
It relies on the Sprint network to download off the air, so no, that
won't work outside the US.

E-Readers won't take off unless there is a free and open format - you only
have to see the history of MP3 players to see that DRM doesn't work.
