Dharma in India is a set of rules that are not unique to India. Respect for
elders, teachers, the exhortation that one must be honest, and that one must
be humble are all rules that have been put under the ambit of "dharma" in
India, but are common to any civilization on earth.

But in India when a man gets beaten for transgressing these rules, the
justification is that he is breaking dharma and must therefore be punished.
That is the connection between Indian dharma, Kenyan mob fury and Islamic
fatwas.
