On my experimental box, (a Presario K6-3/388mHz) I've compiled Kernel-2.4.7
following Linus's instructions, I believe, to the letter. Problem is: it
won't boot! When I select the kernel from lilo I get:
Loading linux.....................
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel
-
and there it sits till I reset and boot the old kernel which works fine.
lilo.conf follows:
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
message=/boot/message
linear
default=linux
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.7
label=linux
read-only
root=/dev/hda8
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2-2
label=linux-old
read-only
root=/dev/hda8
Is there an obvious problem? a quick fix, maybe? Or do I have to start over?
