ZFS supports block devices. You'll need port multiplier support in the
OS before ZFS can use it.

heya,
I'm using OpenSolaris 2008.11 (101a), and trying to use the time-slider
functionality.
The SUNWgnoem-time-slider and SUNWzfs-auto-snapshot packages enabled, and I've
enabled time-slider via System, Administration, Time-Slider Setup.
However, the auto-snapshot services appear to go into m

I think this is in s10u6, so it's been in stable solaris for
twenty-one days.
It's not in the release I tested, so it's worth trying again on a
newer release. I tried on snv_83a, and instead of getting

nope. But feel free to be more specific. Or repeat the test
yourself---it only takes like fifteen minutes. It'd take five if not
for the rebooting.

Hi,
I was wondering is there is a performance gain for an OLTP-like workload
in putting the ZFS Intent Log (ZIL) on "traditional" HDDs.
Moreover, I'd like to have a "rough" idea of relative performances for
an OLTP workload with the same storage (e.g. an external storage with 12

remaining drives as a RAID-Z2? Will there be a problem with u

I was asked a few interesting questions by a fellow co-worker regarding ZFS and

try to ask these questions, but only to have been answered indirectly.

Thanks for replying. I was asking because maybe someone implemente it could be
as a stand-alone software no in the repository.
And I know that it could mean reading and rewriting all data, but I'm
installing a personal NAS, so waiting even a week can be understable.
Thanks again for the reply.

"It won't work unless someone implements it".
In the case of a RAIDZ, it means reading and rewriting all data.
The only thing you can do is add a new raidz to the pool.
So you start with
NAMESTATE READ WRITE CKSUM
There is any change about this? Any developer tried it?

if this also happens on a local ZFS filesysten, then his problem is
